Bed time woes

Yesterday I was playing cars with her with her hot wheels. I would make the vroom vroom sound and drive the car up her back, down her arm and then tickle her little armpit. First of all, she cringes when touched on her upper back just like me and Mom do, which is adorable. Then every time I would tickle her little armpit, she would giggle uncontrollably. Also very cute. Then I paused for a minute and she finished her giggle and said, "tickle!" I was amazed that she knew that she was giggling because she was being tickled. Smart kiddo.

Lately she has been stalling like crazy when it's bedtime. She needs water, or potty, or something always. In Uncle Matt's words, she has "more stalls than a public restroom". Anyhow, tonight was special. Daddy let her stay up late until Mommy got home so I could help put her to bed. We had a peach together and I told her it would be night night time soon. She ran into her Kat corner and occupied herself with something, trying to escape the fate of bedtime. Then we went into the office real quick and she begged for Strawberry Shortcake, which we said, no, it's night night time. So she grabbed a plum off the table and said, "bites!" Again we said it's night night time, so she just bit a huge bite out of it. I don't want to waste it, so I told her finish the plum and then it's bedtime. I've never seen it take so long to eat a plum! After a while I asked her if she was all done and she said, "yeah!" I said, "okay, then it's night night time". She said, "MORE!" and took more bites. So we got through that, and went to her room to start reading books and such. After books we always sing. Usually she'll tell us what she wants to sing, but tonight she pointed to the mole on Mommy, knocked on an invisible door, pointed out my hair, needed water, etc. It was funny. I love the little munchkin.

We laid her down and now she's in there yelling, "mommy, daddy, water, please!" Sounds dramatic, but we already made her drink a bunch before bed. She usually will call out everyone's name who she knows is in the house to see if anyone will rescue her from this awful fate we call bedtime!

tickle, tickle!

I was tickling Kat with her toy cars and she was giggling and giggling. After a few rounds of this, she turned her head and said, "Mommy Tickle!" It was so funny to me that she knew what was making her laugh!

Camping, more talking

Kat is talking so much now. She is really making connections between people and objects. For instance, I will tell her Uncle Matt is coming to play with her (babysit) and she will ask, "tee?" She knows Auntie and Matt usually come together. Or I will tell her that she is going to play with Brodie and Ella today and she will ask, "n Dee?" She knows that she will also play with Mrs. Donohue, who we call Mrs. D.

I was reading her the Winnie the Pooh flap book today and she saw a mailbox with mail flying out of it... she said, "mail!" Then she said, "Daddy mail!" because Daddy takes her with him when he goes to get the mail. There is also a picture where a mommy bird is bringing a worm to the baby birds. She always points to the baby birds first and says, "tweet tweet!" Then she points to the mommy and says, "mommy, eat, tweet tweet!" It's really neat.

She is really into trains right now. She sees one and hollers, "CHOO CHOO!" She loves cars too. She shouts, "beep beep!" while pushing her imaginary horn. So last time we were at the toy store, and I'm trying to let her pick a new chair for camping, she only wants the cars and tools. So we walked with a pink chair, a yellow car and a mini tool set for kids. She likes the chair, she loves the tools and car!

She knows now when we're almost home. When I pull into the apartment complex, she yells, "Home!"

Kat is a very happy little girl. We spent a lot of time this morning playing on Mommy and Daddy's bed. She likes to roll around, literally! She throws herself down and into a roll all at once. She makes me so nervous! She gets so close to the edge it makes me want to faint every time. She does really well though at "saving" herself.

She loves the swimming pool now. She makes requests... she'll point to the front door and say, "GO! Pooooo!" This can be tricky... sometimes that means literally "go pooh" and sometimes it means "go to the pool". Anyhow, when we do go to the pool, she jumps in now! It started in the hot tub, it has a step all the way around it. She would stand on that and then jump in. Her head goes under and everything! She comes up giggling and says, "MORE!" Then it progressed to her realization that she could climb that step to the ledge... and she does. She jumps in over and over again and never tires of it. The good thing is, she takes great naps after that! The other day Daddy jumped into the pool at Grampa's via the diving board... and Kat got out and ran toward the diving board too. She was going to do it, too! But we weren't ready for that feat.

The other day I was trimming her toenails. I let her hold a pair of the scissor type of clippers because then she thinks she's helping. She pinched my arm with them, and I jumped because it hurt. I told her, "ouch Kat! You pinched Mommy! That hurt!" She got real concerned and then grabbed my arm and kissed it where she had pinched. What a little sweetheart! I love that kid!

She is trying harder to go to the bathroom on the toilet. Yesterday she went pee on the potty and she was so proud!

I'm starting to have conversations with her now! I asked her the other day if she had fun at Mrs. D's house. She said, "Yeah, pool!" I asked, "oh, you played in the pool?" She says, "yeah, cold!" and back and forth! She even told me that Mrs. D had to change her pooh diaper. She's an amazing little kid!

Kat makes up games now and plays them over and over. If I lay on the ground next to her, she gets on my back and says, "backi Mommy Kee!" Because I let her ride on my back as the "mommy kitty". We walk around and do kitty things and she loves it. And so do I, of course.

Kat likes to help Mommy cook and do the dishes. It ends up being a huge mess but I just love the time I spend with her. I'll take it in any form. today we both got soaking wet when doing the dishes, but we had fun.

We took her camping last weekend for the first time. She did really well. She took her naps like a good girl and even went to bed like a trooper when the rest of us stayed up to talk and sit around the fire. The first morning she woke up around 4:00AM which was a bummer because she didn't go back to sleep until nap time. She behaved really well though. She couldn't go back to sleep because there was a crow "ca-ing". Every time she heard it, she would yell, "crow!" and then "ca! ca!" Then we'd get her calmed down and the damn crow would "ca" again! She loved exploring in the red wood trees and taking walks with us. She's a very well adjusted little girl.

all of a sudden she is using her words so eloquently. She says "chair" very nicely, as well as a ton of other words. She hid her spoon and I asked where it was, she says, "right here!" She is using more and more sentences!
