Oh Kat baby. I haven’t written in a while so this might be all over the place. First of all, before Bear was born I said something about what she could teach him and she said, “yeah, but… Baby Bear is still in your tummy. He hasn’t come out yet!” It was surprising to me that she grasped what was going on as well as she did.
Jump ahead to Bear’s birth. She stayed with Grampa Marasco and he brought her to the hospital so that she could come in and see him first after he was born. When Hubby went out to get her to come meet Bear, she asked her new little friend in the waiting room to “come see my new baby!” She was so proud of him. Right away she wanted to kiss him and hold him and give him his bottle.
When we brought Bear home I expected that to change. I figured the novelty would ware off and she would get sick of him. So far, 4 weeks later, that hasn’t happened. She still asks all the time if she can kiss him and hold him and hold his hand. When he cries, and he does, A LOT, she says, “oh Bear! You’re fussin again!” She runs to grab his pacifier or she’ll sit and sing to him until I can get to him.
She shows her jealousy in other ways though. When I sit down to nurse him, suddenly she’ll need juice or she has to potty, or … anything really. Or when I’m holding him she’ll say, “mommy, can you hold Baby Bear and me?” I of course tell her yes every time and she’ll sit there for a moment and then want down.
She can play her computer games now like a pro. She loves this certain drawing program and she likes to print the pictures she draws. Well the printer ran out of paper and she knew what to do… she grabbed a piece of paper that was close by and fed it to the printer. I’ve never done this in front of her, she figured it out where the paper went based on watching her pictures print over and over. Smart girl.
The problem is though, I’ve told her never to touch the printer and that she needs to ask me before she prints anything. She isn’t listening at all lately. I’ll tell her to do something or not to and the first thing I hear is, “but…” She argues with everything and then gives me a super sweet smile like I’m not going to notice. Or I’ll say, “no baby, don’t do that” and she’ll say, “oh, but it’s so much fun!” or, “Just for a second Mommy”.
The other day in the car she asked Hubby and I not to talk and said, “everyone needs to ses down ses down” (settle down) Or, like just right now, she wants to play with her doctor’s kit that I just put away. I told her, “no no Kat, I just cleaned that up.” She says, “but I just want to take care of you.” She knows how to make me feel bad for saying no. It’s worked one too many times. The stuff in the kitchen is off limits, she knows this. Yet time after time she’ll go and try to play with it. I’ll tell her no and she’ll say, “but I’m making you a cake”. I’m SO not buying that crap anymore! It’s sweet but it doesn’t warrant not listening.
Today she wanted to go out and play. I told her if she had good quiet time I would take her outside after. She didn’t have good quiet time… she called me time after time for stupid requests and I told her that if she called me one more time, she wouldn’t be allowed to go out and play today. Meanwhile I heard her shaking her bed rail loudly, trying to get my attention. I chose to ignore that, but then she called me again. I went in there and calmly told her that per my warning, she would not be going outside to play. She of course had a melt down. I told her furthermore that I didn’t appreciate her shaking her bed rail and making that noise. She cried and walked around the apartment for several minutes. I couldn’t understand all of what she said, but some of it was, “I just want to do whatever I want, and you don’t let me”. Also, “what was I shaking Mommy?” I showed her the bed rail and she said, “yeah, I was. You see, I was asleep and I started dreaming and I woke up shaking my bed rail.” Um, have I ever heard a bigger crock of shit? I can’t believe what she comes up with.
The other day one of her books was ripped and I asked her about it and told her that it is naughty to rip her books. She said, “I think someone else did that. Yeah, my friend Elvie did that. You see, I met her at Disneyland and we went on the dragon ride together and she comes to my house sometimes. Yeah, and she’s the one who ripped my book. That was naughty, wasn’t it Mommy?” I swear I’m too young to be old.
On a positive note, when Bear cries or something, she’ll say “my baby is crying!” She says that she’s his little mommy and I’m his big mommy. She loves him. Every morning she comes into our room and says, “where’s the baby Mommy?” She’s a sweet angel when she’s not being a shit.

catching up
I found scratched on a piece of paper some things I wanted to write down about Kat. These are from a month or maybe a little more than that ago. The first story was when we were driving home from Matt’s house and Kat thinks the road he lives on is “spooky”. There is a slight wooded area off to the side and Kat said, “robbers live in trees. Hey! Robbers are like tree frogs! They BOTH live in trees!” It turns out in Shrek, one of the characters says that there are robbers in the trees. She learned about tree frogs living in trees from Diego. She put the two together on her own!
That same night, she said, “you need an umbrella for the rain. Rain comes from clouds. Sometimes it gets cold and I need a blanket!” I love listening to her thought process.
She calls little babies, “Sweet little pie!” now. She’s very gentle and sweet with them.
She looked up into the sky and noted, “the moon is out. That means I have to go to bed”. She also noted that the moon was trying to follow us as we drove home.
When Kat is being challenged or wants to sassy talk us, she’ll say, “you know what I mean!” Oh, she’s so sassy!
She found a worry stone that someone gave to me and I explained to her what it was. Several days later, she said “I worried”. I asked, “why are you worried honey?” She said, “Oh, never mind, I not worried anymore!” And pulled out the stone and started rubbing it.
Kat can play computer games now pretty accurately. She can move the mouse exactly where she wants it to go and she plays Dora the Explorer games that seem complicated for a 2 year old to me, but she loves them. She told me, “I can do it myself, no sweat!” I said, ‘honey, where did you learn ‘no sweat’”. She said, “from my friend Bro, him taught me that words!”

Baby Shower
We had our baby shower last Saturday for Baby Bear and Kat was such a good girl. We had brought presents for her so she didn’t feel left out, but she was happy to run around and play with the other kids. She was excited when we would open things and say they were for baby. She would say things like, “OH! Him gonna be so happy!” She is a very non selfish 2 year old.
At the shower one of the presents she got was a “My Little Pony” that takes it’s bottle making a sucking noise, then says “I love you Mommy!” Well we were driving back from the store and from the back seat we hear, “oh! There’s a button in her mouth! Yeah! That’s how she works! You just push the button! That’s what makes her talk! See? I just pushing the button with my finger and it works. This is how she works!” Hubby and I just sat there amazed that my 2 year old princess could figure out that the darn toy talks due to a button, not magic.
Yesterday the phone rang and I answered it and spoke quickly to whomever it was and then hung up. Kat started waving her hands around and saying, “the PHONE has been RINGING all DAY LONG! First it was my grampa then mine other grampa and then Auntie DD and people JUST KEEP CALLING HERE!” No one had really called that day but still, an interesting observation.
Just now I hadn’t heard from Kat in a while so I yelled, “Kat, what are you doing baby?” She yelled back, “I just running around in circles!”
Lately she has been more naughty than normal and I wonder if I’m not paying enough attention to her since I’m so tired. I would tell her to do something and she’ll glare at me and shake her head ’no’. Or, she’ll just say, “no”. She is throwing herself off of my lap, which makes me want to rage. Today has been better, but I’m pushing through the tired to pay lots of attention to her. I hope she adjusts well to not being the center of everything anymore.
She is excited about Bear. She’ll bring me books and tell me she wants to read it to Bear. Today we went to the baby store to purchase some things we still needed, and she wanted to wrap one of the presents for him. I let her, and after we wrapped it, she said, “Oh! We made a beautiful present for Baby Bear! Him just gonna love this present!” So freaking cute. People in the store were staring at her totally amazed at how smart/cute she is.

getting a little jealous
Well as we get closer to Baby Bear’s birth and talk more and more about baby, Kat is pretending to be a baby herself. She comes to me and says, “mommy, mommy, change my diaper!” I’ll tell her, “you don’t wear diapers!” She’ll say, “no, but Baby Cole is gonna go poo poos in his pants!” We are trying to reassure her that being a big kid is the best. Hopefully this tactic will work.
Kat is often saying to us now, “Are you KIDDING me?” or “You know what I mean!” Chad thinks the 2nd one is her version of “F-U!” She definitely says it when she’s being sassy because she’s been told no. Another common one for her is “but I want to” after she’s been told no. She argues with pretty much everything we say. She argues with logic though which adds an interesting spin.
Lately I’ve been having a lot of headaches and back aches. Kat will say, “where does it hurt Mommy? I’ll kiss it for you”. Today she got her shot out of her Dr’s kit and gave me a bunch of shots in my leg and then kissed it. She told me that my legs wouldn’t be bothering me any more. She’s the sweetest thing.
She shares extremely well for a 2 year old, and she knows it. So today I told her that she shared very nicely and she said, “yeah, Bro doesn’t really share with me that well.” Bro is very well behaved but she seems to think that he doesn’t share as good as she does.
Today her grampa was here and she went and got her bike and said, “hey everyone, you wanna see my cool new bike?” She’s so proud of it, though she still doesn’t peddle very well. Bless her heart, she’s very smart in her brain but not as advanced physically as she could be.
Every night when we go to bed, we read Kat books and then sing her some songs. Before we sing the last song which is Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, we ask her what her favorite part of the day was. She used to always say getting her kids vanilla milk from starbucks was her favorite part of the day, regardless of whether we had gone that day or not. She insisted that was it. Then it evolved into “I don’t know”. So we started telling her what all we did and asking her to choose her favorite. We went through a short phase where her favorite part of the day was just something recent, like we had a party for her over the weekend and that was still her favorite part of the day on Monday. Just Tuesday of this week she’s starting choosing a part of the day all on her own without us telling her what happened. On Tuesday, her favorite part of the day was “having dinner with Auntie DD”. Today her favorite part was “playing ball with Grampa and Mommy”. I’m so proud of her she’s getting a grasp on time.
Kat is very needy lately and I think it might be in response to everyone talking about Bear all the time. She is always saying, “mommy I want you!” And she just wants me to hold her. Of course, I’m fine with this. I just hope it doesn’t come from insecurity. I want her to be confident even if there is a new person joining the family.

acting like a baby
So there are a few things that have happened that I’ve forgotten to write about. Kat can spell her name, K-A-I-T-L-Y-N and has been able to for a few weeks now. She can also spell C-A-T sometimes.
Kat is obsessed with Frosty the Snowman movies. She begs to watch them several times per day! We have a DVD with 2 Frosty movies on it and she tells you “First I want to watch the one with Karen, and then I want to watch the one with Holly DeCarwo”. And in fact, the 1st episode has a little girl named Karen and the 2nd has a girl named Holly DeCarlo. Kat can sing all the words to the Frosty song. She told me that she can’t remember the words to the Strawberry song, just to the Frosty song.
We’ve been babysitting Baby Adrian this week and also this week Kat started going pee pee in bed, which she hasn’t done for months. She woke up for a few months with dry pull ups so we decided to put her to bed in panties now. Today she had 2 accidents in her panties and for the last 2 nights she’s had accidents during the night. So I was talking to her, pointing out that Baby Adrian has been taking a lot of Mommy’s attention and asking her if that made her feel like she wanted to be a baby too. She says “yeah I a little bit jealous”. Oh my, how she knows that I don’t know. Anyhow she has been trying to drink from baby’s bottle and sit in his bouncer, etc. She then proceeded to tell me, “Also, if I go pee in my bed I get to come into Mommy and Daddy’s bed”. OH SO THE TRUTH COMES OUT!!! It will be interesting to see what happens when Baby Bear gets here though. On the flip side of the jealousy thing, Kat is so good with Adrian. She would tickle his feet, talk to him. She doesn’t freak out when he cries (he had to cry for a few minutes while we heated his bottle). She just talks to him and says “it’s OK BABY, I taking care of you!” She is very patient and wants to be a little mommy. She had to be there for every diaper change and she at least started to give him every bottle. She’s a little care taker. I did assure her that I love it that she’s a big kid and wouldn’t trade her for a million babies. I told her that she is super special for being so big and all the things she can do. I hope she believes me. I believe that she’s smart enough to understand me.
She also knows the meaning of first, second and third. She was saying today that she “can’t” do something. When we did it for her, she said, “oh, I couldn’t do it”. I was surprised that she knew how to change the tense from “can’t” to “couldn’t”. She makes me laugh every day. When I do laugh, she says “I made you laugh!” She likes to please people. If she does something naughty or even just accidentally wrong, she says “oh I’m sorry, that’s my fault”. After she had her accidents today she said “I’m sorry Mommy”. Broke my heart. I generally do not get mad when she has accidents but I got irritated today and when she said sorry it broke my heart.
Kat likes to lick me and say she’s being a kitty. It drives me nuts! I tell her all the time NO LICKING because I don’t want germs in her mouth. Last night when Chad was changing her sheets, she was laying with me half asleep. I was also half asleep as it was about 3:00AM. Suddenly I feel a lick on my cheek and I open my eyes and see her laying there with her eyes tight shut but a smirk on her face. She’s so silly.
Kat has really vivid dreams that she explains to us. One night she was riding a train through a tunnel but they couldn’t go through the tunnel because a dragon was standing in the way. Even though the dragon was pink, he wasn’t nice and he was breathing fire. Another time she was sure bugs were crawling all over her. Breaks my heart. We’ve tried talking to her about dreams… telling her she can control them and make the dragon be nice and take her swimming. So sometimes she says she dreamed about fishies and kitties and the pool was warm and clean with no spiders or rocks in it. She’s crazy. Now she invites us into her dreams. When we kiss her good night, she says “I’ll call you into my dreams”. I love that. I hope we do meet in her dreams. Today she told me she dreamed about me. I asked her what we were doing and she said “cuddling and…” and I couldn’t understand the rest.
Kat is big into arguing right now. If you tell her not to do something, she’ll say “I’m just…” and there is an excuse or reason why should be able to continue. When we tell her to stop something, she’ll say “just ONE more time” and do it anyway. We need to get stricter with this because today she took medicine she found UP HIGH even though she was disciplined for it the other day. (Per poison control the medicine wouldn’t hurt her, but still). She thinks she’s way smarter than us and she is getting brave with picking up scissors and trying other dangerous things. I can’t hide the “dangers” quick enough, where she used to say “I not touch that until I big like Mommy”. She thinks she’s big now, which scares me to death.
I just went into her room and cuddled her for a few minutes. She’s such a sweet angel. I could hold her all night if I didn’t think it would interrupt her sleep too much.

smarty artie!
Today I was putting Kat’s hair in piggy tails. I was using light blue ties because they matched her shirt, and blue is her favorite color. So I told her I was using blue. She handed me a dark blue pretty for the second piggy. I said, “oh, actually sweetie, I need the light blue one because it will match the other one.” She thought about it for a moment and then said, “so the one I got was dark blue?” She’s so smart. I’m not modest at all anymore, she’s really very smart.

memory!
I told Kat that Auntie Candy would be watching her today. She said, “oh, remember when she took me to a farm that time?” It’s true, Candy took her to a far a couple of months ago. Her memory is amazing!

memory
In the doctor’s office today Kat pointed to a piece of cloth hanging on the wall and said, “remember when I took a picture of that?” The day we got her a digital camera she took a picture of that same cloth. That was April 25th! I don’t know how she remembers so far back.

my sweet girl
We had a good time at Marine World today. Kat is so thoughtful, she kept saying “next time we bring Bro and Elle Belle here”. She always wants to share her fun time with them. She’s a sweetie pie.

1...2...3.... GO!
Kat was so precious watching the fireworks tonight. She was amazed as they went off and soon enough she started counting, “1-2-3... GO!” She had it timed so that the fireworks went off right when she said go. She turned to me and said, “Mommy I’m making them do that!” She was having happy seizures the whole time. It was so amazing to watch her. I had tears in my eyes because she was so excited. A couple of days later she was telling Auntie Dianne about counting to make the fireworks go and Dianne said, “Big Girl, did you make the fireworks go off?” Kat said, “no… I make them go ON!”.

Kat can now spell her name… K-A-I-T-L-Y-N. She does it right every time, too! She is growing up so fast!

Naughty
Kat is in a very naughty phase right now. She doesn’t listen, and doesn’t seem to care at all when she is disciplined. I’m not real sure what to do now. She hasn’t taken naps for almost 3 months now, and her doctor said not to keep pushing it. She supposedly gets enough sleep at night. The problem is, come “nap time”, she is tired and irritable and naughty. We battle for a couple of hours trying to get her to stay in her room, then she’s fussy for the rest of the day. I don’t feel like anything we do is particularly productive. We’ve tried time out, ignoring her, sitting in the room, leaving her door open, we’ve even yelled at her I’m sorry to say. She’ll just look you in the eye and get up and jump on her bed, or get out of bed and smuggle a toy back in. We’ve told her she can read in bed, or sing, or talk to her friends. She wants none of that. We go in time after time and find her standing on the edge of her bed, or something else dangerous. She’s fallen out a couple of times and that doesn’t even teach her. I don’t want her to break her neck in there but I also don’t know what to do with her besides get rid of her bed that took us so long to be able to buy. It’s a very frustrating situation.
When we do put her on time out, she gets up and leaves. We start her time over, and time after time she’ll get up just to make us angry. I don’t know where along the line she stopped caring. She used to be such a well behaved little girl. We’ve never slacked in discipline so I don’t know where this is coming from. We give her lots of attention and praise. I don’t know what we’re missing but I hope we figure it out before she’s all messed up.

I can't
So this morning she wanted to make cookies. I was getting together all the ingredients and we had this conversation:
KK- "Wait, I need my rolling pin"
ME- "OK, where is it?"
KK- "It's in my bedroom"
ME- "OK, well go get it then"
KK- "I can't!"
ME- "What do you mean you can't?"
KK- "IT MEANS... I can NOT"
I wonder why I always feel like I need a nap?

sassafrass (this will be the title of a lot of blogs I fear)
OH where to begin? Well as I was reading my last entry which I wrote a while ago, I noticed that she was almost singing “twinkle, twinkle little star”. Now she sings the whole thing like a pro, as well as “farmer and the dell”, “pat a cake”, “happy birthday”, “abcs”, “wipe your bottom” (a song from the potty training video) and many other songs I can’t think of right now. Oh, “itsy bitsy spider” too. She calls it “ibsy bibsy pider” which is adorable to me.
Kat is in a very defiant phase right now. When we tell her it’s nap time, she turns very naughty. She’ll jump on the bed, argue, hit the wall, shake her bed rail, anything to be naughty. She’ll actually yell, “Mommy! I jumping and being naughty! I not sleeping!” Before and after nap she is pretty much an angel, just not during the actual nap. She’ll fight for a full 2 hours and basically wait until we say nap time is over. It’s very frustrating because nothing has changed with our routine. We still read, sing and put her down. She’s fine until we leave and then naughty, naughty, naughty. We’ve tried punishing for not taking naps, rewarding for when she does, letting her have “quiet time” and just read books. So far no success but I’m not giving up. She is so tired when she doesn’t sleep so it’s not as though she doesn’t need them anymore. Something will work, I just hope I remember to write it down when it does so I can refer back to it in case it happens again with baby #2.
It seems like Kat has allergies now, poor thing. She has had basically clear snot for over 2 months now and unfortunately she takes after me, nothing seems to work for her. I’ve tried Claritin, benadryl, Rondec DM, Dimetapp Elixer…. I think maybe that’s it. Oh Triaminic. Nothing seems to work, and most of them make her hyper instead of sleepy, so she really doesn’t nap on the days she takes those!
Kat’s problem solving skills still amaze me daily. She heard me talking about swimming at my grampa’s soon and ran into her room and grabbed her floatie. I told her we would try to go soon. (the pool is too cold right now). She said, “yeah, I want to go to my grampa’s house” The rest of the conversation went like this:
Me: “oh? You want to go to Grampa’s house?”
KK: “no! not Grampa’s house! BIG PAPA’s house!”
Me: “oh sorry, you said Grampa, so you want to go to Big Papa’s house?”
KK: “yeah! Not regular Grampa who brings me coins, Big PAPA!”
Me: “Ok baby, you want to go to Big Papa’s house”
KK: “yeah, not regular Grampa who brings me coins. Big Papa. That’s what I’ve been trying to tell you!
Me: “yes baby, I understand what you’re trying to tell me.”
KK: “yeah, regular Grampa is Papa Jeff!”
She’s right, she tends to call my dad Grampa and my grampa Big Papa. I don’t know what started that but rest assured, Kat knows the difference!
Kat loves to nurse her baby now. She puts the baby’s head over her shoulder and pats her back and says “oh, c’mere” and then tells me, ‘”quiet Mommy! I’m nursing my baby!”
Her memory is getting even longer too! We took her to the beach yesterday and she told me, “remember when we went to the beach and looked for shells?” That was back in February! We had a really good time at the beach and right before we left I took her on the carousel at the boardwalk. She rode by herself and as we were leaving she told me, “I had a good time at the beach today Mommy!”
Kat and I go on Starbucks dates pretty often and we just sit there and talk to each other. Actual, real conversations. She is so amazing. She orders her own stuff too! “Kids manilla milk and a banana coffee cake pwease”.
Every night we ask her what her favorite part of the day was. She usually says, “when I got my kids manilla milk”. I think it’s just habit now to say that.
A few days ago Kat was sitting on my lap while I was typing something and she sneezed. I didn’t do or say anything and she looked at me and said, “um, bless me!” It was so cute. It was filled with attitude, but it was cute.
Not so cute, the other day we were at Taco Bell and she did something naughty… yelled at Hubby I think. When she says things that aren’t nice, we tell her that it’s sassy talk and it will not be tolerated. Well she mouthed off to Hubby and then looked at me and said, “and don’t’ tell me sassy talk!” GRRRRRRRR!
Driving to Mrs D's the other day to drop her off, she started growling. I said, “Oh! Are you being a dinosaur?” She said, “No! I not a dinosaur! I just tending to be a dinosaur! I not really a dinosaur!” Ok then, my bad. She’s just pretending to be a dinosaur, but let the record show… she is not really a dinosaur. Stinker
Also the other day she was telling me she had a baby in her tummy. When we both have something that is the same, we touch and say “cheers!”. Well I was driving, so I couldn’t touch my belly to hers and say “cheers!”. Instead, I reached my hand behind me and said, “cheers!” She said, “no! You don’t have a baby in your hand, you have a baby in your belly! Not in your hand!” Man, she knows everything. If you don’t believe her, just ask her!
She is constantly correcting us, she really believes that everything we know, she taught to us. Crazy kid man. I love her.

sweet little kitty
Well this is going to be short because I'm in a hurry, but I have a few things before I forget.
First of all, I was in Kat's room and I told her to go get something. She was gone too long so I called her again. On the third time I was annoyed and I said, "Kat! Get in here right now!" She came in very calmly and said, "I just heard you calling me". Oh she's so full of it, I love it!
Kat sings her ABC's from beginning to end with no mistakes. She even does perfect on the LMNOP part. She is very proud of herself when she finishes the song, and I love to hear her do it. She is also singing most of Twinkle Twinkle, Little Star.
Two days ago she went on her first errand with Daddy... while wearing panties! They went to get milkshakes the first day and then the day before yesterday she went to the grocery store with him in panties and didn't have any accidents! Finally we're turning a corner!
Chad went into her room the other day to find her sitting in the rocking chair, holding her baby wrapped in a blanket and singing "Rock A Bye Baby" to her baby. It was very sweet. No one tells her to do these things, she just does. She's a very smart little girl.
Today I asked her if she'd like to count to 10 with me. We hadn't done that in a while so I expected her to move slowly. She counted 1 to 10 like it was second nature. She surprises me a lot.
She asked me to get into her bed the other day and I told her that Mommy was sick and I didn't want to put sick germs into her bed and get her sick. She thought for a moment and said, "I got sick once in the car. I threw up." Then she went on to say, "It's OK though because Daddy cleaned me all up. I got some on my book too and Mommy cleaned it off for me". This happened well over a month ago but she still remembers the details. I just can't believe she can remember that far back, especially since we never talk about it.
Sometimes I take a bath with Kat for time's sake. She will get her cup of water and pour it on my belly button and say, "I'm bringing the baby water". She'll pour it and listen to my belly and say, "The baby says thank you". She is going to be a very good big sister I think. Also, she sings Rock A Bye Baby to my tummy because I told her that the baby can hear her. She talks to my belly button and says, "Baby! Come out soon baby!" Poor thing, there is a long wait yet for that!
Also strange for her age, she is very good at sharing. She loves to divide up her jewels and put them in different purses and give one to me, her daddy and herself. She'll say, "Here this one is for you".
The other day I was at the doctor and when the doctor came in, my little tiny 2 year old said, "Look Mommy! She has a stethoscope!" She is so smart. The doctor just looked at her and said, "you're very cute, aren't you?" Kat said, "yeah" very matter of fact like. I didn't notice at the time, but my life must have been very boring before she came along.

My little helper
Oh my it's been a while. I'm sure I've forgotten most of the amazing things that Kat has done in the last month, and there have been many! She unfortunately doesn't care to take naps anymore, she thinks she's the boss of this house, she speaks like a 5 year old, and sings. What else? Oh she wears panties during the day and usually goes without accidents.
The other day it rained and then there was a gorgeous rainbow. She said, "It's far, far away isn't it Mommy?" I said yes it is. She said, "Let's go find it Mommy!" Little sweetheart. I asked her how much I loved her, expecting her to reach her arms as far as they would go and say "thiiiiiiis much!" Instead she smiled and said "with all your heart". Well, she's right.
She was making me angry the other day (Probably from not taking a nap) and I told her that she was making me angry. She says "I don't make you angry Mommy, I make you happy".
Also I've been very sick with this pregnancy, so when I gag or say I feel sick, she runs and gets me sparkling water, which she calls "sprinkle water". She holds my hand and say "I'm helping you Mommy! I'm helping you!" The down side of that is that she always says "my tummy not feel too good. I need medicine." or "my bottom is red. I need atemeal (oatmeal) bath". She always has some sort of ailment and she usually knows just what she needs for it... be it tylenol, tums, etc. Usually she's right, too, about which fix goes with what problem.
When Hubby is feeling especially jack assey he says "bah!" Kat doesn't like it apparently because she tells him now, "don't say that daddy! That not nice!" Everything she disapproves of is "not nice" to her now.
When she asks for something and you tell her no, she says, "Just two?" I still say no and she says, "OK, 1 then". She is her own little thinker and doesn't like being told what to do. Oh well, life sucks sometimes! She is bossy and we're working her helping her to understand that Mommy and Daddy are the boss, not Kat. It's coming along, slow but sure.
I had a chocolate bar the other day and she picked it up and said, "I need this!" I told her that is was Mommy's and she said, "well I'll share it with you". She's a smart one!

hodge podge
Geez, it's been over a month since I wrote last, and I'm so far behind. A lot has happened in this last month!
Kat speaks in full, comprehensive sentences now. You can have full conversations with her that make perfect sense. Today while watching "Dora The Explorer" there were two trains in the same tunnel and she said, "there's another train in the tunnel." just as plain as that.
Kat can sing her ABC's almost all the way through. She skips the LMNOP part but she gets up to QRSTUV YZ. She's so close! She also counts from 1 to about 16... then she says 20, 21, 22.... She's a smarty artie.
She can also sing the happy birthday song and rock a bye baby. She loves to mother her little babies that Santa brought her. She says, "oh my poor baby!" and rocks the baby and give her a bottle or a paci. Then she'll say, "my baby is cold, she needs a blanket".
When we hug her we say, "give me the best hugs ever!" So now she'll just put her hand on your shoulder and say "BIG HUGS!" and when you hug her she says "best hugs ever!" They certainly are. I love those hugs.
We found out the day after Christmas that baby number 2 is on the way come September. Kat seems to understand this. She'll say, "Mommy have a baby in her tummy. She'll come out soon". Then she says she has a baby in her tummy, too. Very cute.
After Christmas everyone took down the Christmas lights, which were a total obsession for her the whole month of December. She would say, "more lights Mama!" or, "Look Mama! There's lights". When they came down we had to explain that lights go up at Christmas time and then we have to take them down, but they'll be back next year. So now when she has to leave somewhere, she says "I'll be back next year". She was also VERY into snowmen, she loved them. She could spot a snowman a mile away.
She grasped the concept of Santa this year. She met Santa twice and he gave her a bag full of coins for her piggy bank and a baby doll. If you ask her where she got her baby she'll say, "I got her from Santa". If you say, "what else did Santa give you?" She'll say, "he give me... coins. and my baby... and... coins". Amazing what she can remember.
Kat got a new snail to join the fish tank and after some careful consideration, she named him "Boo Boo". We suggested tons of names for her, but she chose Boo Boo. She's a crazy monkey. She says that they live in the fish tank and that they live in water. She's very smart. I know I've said it before but the kids just keeps on amazing me.
Kat's vocabulary is far advanced to a normal 2 year old. We have a book where she is supposed to find things, and since she mastered that on the first day, we had to start looking further into the pictures. Now she knows what a man hole is!
She also knows where her mandible is and her clavicle.
We are having a set back on the potty. She was in panties for the month of December, but now she says "I don't want to" when asked if she needs to go potty. Either that or "No I NOT GO POTTY!"
Kat isn't taking good naps these days. You tell her it's nap time and she says, "no I not take a nap, I just woke up". She argues about just about everything actually.
She is dressing herself much better! She can definitely undress herself, and now she'll put on her own pull ups and pants. Shirts are still a bit of a challenge, but we only have to help a little.
The other day she grabbed my face and said, "I make you happy Mommy". Man, she does! If you ask her who's bossy, she'll say, "you're bossy!" (When really it's HER that's bossy!)
I know I'm forgetting a whole lot of stuff. Oh, when I go to the bathroom now, she'll look into the toilet and say, "good job, Mommy!" Too bad she won't go too! I wish I would journal more as I remember. A New Year resolution perhaps?
